The Center for Radiation Research and Education, Nagasaki University is established in October 2021 as an advanced research and academic promotion organization.

Its mission is to provide guidance and advice on radiation education and radiation safety management, and to promote and support education and research using radiation.

It is also the University's only facility licensed to use sealed and unsealed radioisotopes for research and education. As a facility of the Network-type Joint Usage/Research Center for Radiation Disaster Medical Science, it is also available for use by researchers outside the University.

The Department of Radiation Biology and Protection was established in October 2014 in the Radiation Risk Control Unit, Atomic Bomb Disease Institute.

Our research and educational activities are aimed at promoting radiation protection and establishing radiation safety management as a practical field.

Furthermore, as a Dosimetry Team of the Advanced Radiation Emergency Medical Support Center, Nagasaki University, we are involved in response to nuclear and radiological disasters as well as in education and training during normal situations.

The members of both departments work as one team to carry out these tasks.
