Laboratory

The Atomic Bomb Disease Institute "Department of Tumor and Diagnostic Pathology" (Genken Byouri) has been pursuing the late effects of radiation on a human body.

We are also doing research using A-bomb survivors’ biomaterial and example of biopsy, especially we are tackling energetically the molecular pathology analysis of the tumor which is a typical disease of A- bomb survivors' late-onset radiation injury (atomic bomb disease). And we are also promoting simultaneously the basic research about the prevention method and cure for the enteritis which is the side effects accompanying an acute radiation intestinal disease and radio therapy.

In addition, we are also doing positively general human pathology research like pathological anatomy and surgical pathology, and are tackling training of the pathology medical specialist who contributes to community medicine.

Clarifying the molecular mechanism which continues and increases the carcinogenic risk which is the most important problem of atomic bomb disease, we develop it into the elucidation of the molecular mechanism of general carcinogenesis and the creation of new diagnostic technology.
