Reports on the 2nd Asian Congress of
Radiation Research (ACRR 2009) |
Aya Ishikawa, Department of Molecular Medicine |
2nd Asian Congress of Radiation Research (ACRR 2009) was held to May 17th to 20th in Seoul, Korea. COEX, the venue of the congress, is leading international convention and exhibition center in Korea. World trade center, hotels, city air terminal and large shopping mall are located in this area. In congress, participants were mainly from Asian countries, like Korea, Japan and China, and they conducted lively discussions.
I presented at poster session and the title was “Quantitative analysis of DNA damage signaling involved in the induction of G2/M checkpoint after irradiation.
” Poster session was categorized “Nuclear & Imaging Medicine”, “Radiation Bioscience”, “Medical Physics”, “Radiation Protection” and “Targeted Therapy”, and posters which were categorized into “Radiation Bioscience” accounted for about half of the total. There were various reports on DNA damage repair, cell cycle, apoptosis, etc. I questioned about effect on cell cycle checkpoint after some treatments.
I heard presentations about radiation biomarker, response to low dose irradiation, etc. in symposiums. However, there were many symposiums on cancer therapy and diagnostic imaging by PET/CT. I felt that it is required and attracted attention not only to investigate for the effects of radiation, but also to use radiation for diagnostics and treatments for cancer. |
