From 6 November 2007, Professor
Naoki Matsuda and Associate Professor Noboru
Takamura visited Tamir-Nadu state, India.
They visited Bharathiar University, Coimbatore,
in order to discuss with a research group
of Professor Selvasekaapandian on their
research activity on the environmental
monitoring around Kudankulam Nuclear Power
Plant, which is now under construction
in Tamir-Nadu state, and on the future
possibility of collaboration studies in
the field of radiation health risk control
between Bharathiar University and Nagasaki
University. They also delivered lectures
for students of the university.
Furthermore, they visited to Kudankulam
Nuclear Power Plant and “high-background
radiation areas” near the power plant
and measured the actual radiation doses.
In the near future, development of collaboration
studies including exchange programs is
definitely expected within a framework
of Global COE Program. Furthermore, Professor
Selvasekaapandian is going to participate
in the symposium entitled “1st Global
Strategic Center for Radiation Health Risk
Control” which is scheduled on January – February
2008, in order to present their research
activity.
