Seminar“Current and Future Medical
Research on Chernobyl” |

On July 7, 2008, Global COE Seminar entitled “Current
and Future Medical Research on Chernobyl” was
held at Research Centre for Radiation Medicine,
Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in
Kiev. The aim of the seminar was to report
the outstanding results of collaboration
studies between Nagasaki University and relevant
research institutions in Ukraine, and to
discuss the future direction of collaboration.
From Nagasaki, Professor Shigeru Kohno, Dean
of Nagasaki University School of Medicine,
Professor Shunichi Yamashita, Project Leader
of Global COE Project, and Professor Noboru
Takamura, Global COE Member participated
in this seminar. Also from Ukraine, Professors
Bebeshko and Korol (Research Centre for Radiation
Medicine), Professor Tronko and Bogdanova
(Research Institute for Endocrinology and
Metabolis) participated in this seminar,
and presented their research activities.
Furthermore, Mr Mutsuo Mabuchi, Ambassador
of Japanese Embassy in Ukraine also participated
in this seminar, in order to make opening
remarks. It is scheduled to have seminars
and symposiums in each country where we are
developing collaboration studies within a
framework of our Global COE project.
