December Trip to India – Tour Report |
 |
|
From December 8 – 24, I visited to India
for initiating the research work between Nagasaki University and Kalasalingam
University, India within the frame work of GCOE. As per the discussion between
the professors of two universities (Dr.Noboru Takmaura of Nagasaki University
and Prof.S.Selvasekarapandian of Kalasalingam University) it is planned to go
for urine sample collection in the people residing in the natural high background
radiation areas of Tamilnadu prefecture. After reaching india on 7th February,
I met Prof. S. Selvasekarapandian and discussed about the sampling strategy and
decided to go for urine sample collection in the villages namely “Chinna
Villai” and “Annai Nagar – Pallam” with his lab member.
Initially it was a big task for convincing the people of two villages after a
week canvassing it was agreed to go for sampling. On 21st December first sampling
was held at “Annai Nagar – Pallam” and on 22nd December second
sampling was held at “Chinnai Villai” village. Totally 135 samples
have been collected from the two sampling and it was brought to Nagasaki for
urinary iodine measurements. It was a great pleasure for me to go and visit and
interact the people for this measurement and I am really thankful to Dr.Noboru
Takamura and GCOE of Nagasaki University for their support.
