| Report on “St.
Petersburg State Medical Institute and Nagasaki
University joint Conference for Cell technologies
and regenerative medicine” |

Scientific-Practice Conference “Cell
technologies and regenerative medicine” was
held at the St. Petersburg State Institution “Pokrovskaya
Municipal Hospital” in St. Petersburg
City, Republic of Russia on September 24,
2007. The hospital is the core hospital of
600 numbers of the beds and consists of it
led by medical examination and treatment
department and an endoscope / radiographic
examination sections such as surgery, orthopedics,
wound surgery, otolaryngology, oral surgery,
circulatory organ department, the circulatory
organ surgery. Private stem cell bank system "Pokrovski" which
assumed St. Petersburg State Institution “Pokrovskaya
Municipal Hospital” a foothold in the
city is established, and which is going to
promote the medical research and development
with a stem cell.
As the beginning, Nagasaki University had
a visit in last July by St. Petersburg State
Institution “Pokrovskaya Municipal Hospital” and
Pokrovski, the combination meeting was planned
to aim for cooperative relations promotion
for the study promotion of this domain between
people of 3. The meeting continued for opening
of a meeting declaration of the chief Otari
Khurtsilava of St. Petersburg State Institution “Pokrovskaya
Municipal Hospital”, and the following
speech was performed. Earnest discussion for
each subject was exchanged at the general
discussion. In particular, there were many
questions about the effect of bFGF which Dr.
Akita gave a speech about, and we felt strong
interest about this domain. Even the meeting
ended, back in an occasion, a discussion about
each subject was exchanged. In addition, exchange
of opinions about bone reproduction or the
cell transplant for the circulatory organ
disease in the St. Petersburg State Institution “Pokrovskaya
Municipal Hospital” was accomplished.
In the St. Petersburg State Institution “Pokrovskaya
Municipal Hospital”, they are letting
inspection facilities linking activity of
Pokrovski fill up. In such a movement, I am
convinced that this meeting gave great stimulation
for the researcher of Japan and Russia mutually.
It will be an important problem in the future
to develop a common enterprise with Nagasaki
University in a research and development field
of the regenerative medicine which uses a
stem cell, and this can become the useful
strategy for establishment of the radiation
exposure medical care studies that Global
COE program aims at.
