Pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer: A pathologic point of view
|
Dr. Junya Fukuoka
Professor, Toyama University Hospital |
“Pathology” has been a scientific subject at the heart of the medicine and achieved based on deep observations of “histological findings”. Pathological view points are unique which led the medicine by giving great theoretical ideas of pathogeneses, classifying diseases based on the findings, suggesting predictive factors for prognosis, therapeutic effects, and adverse effects, and so forth. Pathology is one of the most classic subjects of the medicine, though, it will continue to be essential and lead the medicine including the areas of basic research.
From such view points, using two most major lethal diseases of the lung, lung cancer and interstitial pneumonia, five following topics will be presented at the seminar.
1) Basic “abc” of pathology in lung cancer and interstitial pneumonia.
2) Classifications of the diseases
3) Current medical progress and pathological diagnosis (benefits and problems)
4) New guidelines of IPF and lung adenocarcinoma
5) Future direction of diagnosis/therapy (pathological prospects)
Active discussion will be greatly appreciated at the seminar. |
