Background radiation dose to the population
around Kudankulam nuclear power plant

Professor Selvasekarapandian has been conducting a research project on the measurement of environmental radionuclides around Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, which is constructing in Tamirnadu region, southern part of India, and clarified the high natural background radiation area along the seacoast near the power plant due to the existence of monazite, which includes 232Th. In addition to his research activities, current situation of nuclear facilities in India, where 8 nuclear power plants are under construction, will be introduced during this GCOE seminar.
