Mission
The Center for Radiation Research and Education, Nagasaki University was reconstructed in October 2021 as an organization to promote advanced research and education at Nagasaki University. We aim to contribute to the advancement of education and research.
Our missions are as follows;
① The Joint Use of the Center's Facilities and Equipment
Our center is the only facility on campus that has approval for the use of radionuclides for research purposes.
We provide a research environment with appropriate radiation safety management.
② Radiation education support
We provide a wide range of radiation education, including lectures and practical training for students, and outreach lectures.
③ Advice on radiation management and safe handling
We advice on radiation management, measurement, dosimetry, and legal compliance. In nuclear emergency situation, we support dose assessment as members of the Dosimetry Department of the Headquarters for Nuclear Disaster Response and Preparedness in Nagasaki University,.
④ Support for radiation research
We support research using small animal PET/SPECT/CT, HPGe semiconductor detectors, gamma ray irradiation device, etc.

- 1978
- Radioisotope Center was established in Nagasaki University
- 1996
- Radioisotope Center building was constructed
- 2003
- Radioisotope Center was reorganized in the Life Science Support Center
- 2012
- Bioimaging area (BSL3) was established. PET/SPECT/CT was installed for small animals
- 2021
- Life Science Support Center was reorganized into the 3 organizations. Radioisotope Center was renamed the Center for Radiation Research and Education and has become an independent organization.
